Idlewyld Manor Family Council Meeting

Hanna advised the new food service times of 8:30 am, 12:30 pm and 5:00 pm are currently being tested and will be implemented throughout the Manor on January 13. There will be of shuffling of staff, especially PSWs, to ensure all areas are served in a timely manner. She is working closely with staff to ensure meals are prepared as stated in the Canada Food Guide and as outlined by the Ministry of Health. Portion sizes will be based on the correct scoops and scales. Staff are being educated and monitored on the proper handling of kitchen utensils. Hanna can be reached at Ext. 226. Susan advised the Survey Results are not yet available but should be in the next 2 months.

- CHAIR’S REMARKS:
5.1 Elvis has been rescheduled to January 12 at 6:30 pm.
5.2 The Idlewyld Manor Foundation provided funds to purchase new lifts, sit to stand devices, 2 tubs, and 6 multi position (pedal) tables. The Celebration Room and Foyer will be renovated this year.
5.3 Meal time changes as noted above
5.4 Door wraps were added to all the doors on Creek Side. .
5.5 Coping with Grief through Music starts on January 22. Please contact Glynis for further information or to register.
5.6 Thank you to Margaret Figliola for donating the Christmas Trees in the Celebration Room. The Christmas pots in the foyer area were made by Cindy, Margaret and Ann and enjoyed by all.
5.7 Review of Christmas Day – The Families who gathered in the Celebration Room enjoyed their time there. Those who purchased Christmas dinner stated they enjoyed it. Some challenges to address next year: the lack of music, microwaves that did not work, utensils not supplied, lights were not turned on.
5.8 February guest speaker will be Wendy, Charge Nurse. She will speak about Palliative Care.
5.9 A portable classroom will be placed in the back parking lot. The classroom will be used to train and educate Mohawk College PSWs.
- ONGOING BUSINESS:
6.1 In response to the FC concern re; chair cleaning, Management responded as follows: chairs are cleaned as needed. All chairs were steamed in November 2019. If chairs are contaminated they are removed from the unit and cleaned as soon as possible.
6.2 A meeting will be scheduled with management to discuss Christmas 2019 and to plan for Christmas 2020.
- NEW BUSINESS:
7.1 A synopsis of the Ministry of Health findings were distributed and included: Resident’s Bill of Rights, promoting zero tolerance of abuse, reporting to the Director, a requirement to have an administrator in the home at least 35 hours per week, all staff to participate in an infection prevention and control program, plan of care, fall prevention and management, reporting critical incidents. Compliance date is February 7, 2020.
Treasurer’s Report: A report was presented by Ann. As of December 31, 2019 the numbers are as follows:
Treasury Amount: $1296.60 including $350.75 cash
Mary Newman is the Family Council Treasurer.

Collected: $77.00. Elaine won the draw and donated the winnings to the Garden Fund.
