Idlewyld Manor Family Council Meeting

- CALL TO ORDER: 6:36 pm
- GUEST SPEAKERS: Bahar Karimi, Administrator and Brenda Patterson, Chief Financial Officer
Brenda reviewed the power point presentation as previously sent to all Family Council members.
Bahar provided the following update:
Most staff are vaccinated, those that aren’t will be shortly and those with no vaccine will be placed on leave.
Only 1 resident is not vaccinated and some residents have received their 3rd dose.
A vaccine clinic will be held on October 26, 2021 and a flu clinic on November 2, 2021.
It is expected construction for the Café in the lobby will begin in January 2022 and will take approximately two months to complete.
A company has been chosen for the purchase of new furniture. Alex will send samples of colours for family consultation. Fresh painting will also be done. The hair salon has been painted recently. It will soon have a whole new look.
The staff Wellness Room is opening on October 13, 2021.
The week of October 12 – 15, 2021 is staff appreciation week.
An Employment Engagement survey will be distributed to all staff.
The Palliative Program has been updated and put into place.

- CHAIR’S REMARKS:
5.1 October 7th fundraiser: The bake sale was very successful.
5.2 Winterfest request: Brad McCullough has asked the Family Council for assistance with Winterfest scheduled for December 2, 3 and 4. He requested baking, gift items and/or gift baskets. All proceeds would be donated to Resident Council. Many options were discussed. Cindy will discuss with Brad for further clarification and needs. Clarke generously offered to donate the funds required to purchase the containers for the baked goods.
5.3 Future guest speakers: It was suggested Shari-Lee Srigley, Director of Development attend with an update on the Café. It was also suggested a member of the Palliative Team attend to provide information on the new program.
5.4 November meeting: IMPORTANT – For November only, the meeting has been changed to a Monday, November 8, 2021.
- ONGOING BUSINESS:
6.1 Board of Directors inquiries: A request was made that an actual member of the Board of Directors attend a meeting. Some questions were left unanswered from the last meeting.
- NEW BUSINESS:
7.1 Fundraising ideas for Christmas: A discussion was held around arranging for candy bowls in the break areas of each Resident area. This would include individually wrapped candy/chocolate/treats for all staff to enjoy. Further discussion will take place at the November meeting. It was agreed the cost of this initiative would be funded by the Family Council.
