PRESENT:  Cindy Allen, Mary Newman, Barb Vacon, Ann Bennett, Anne Ross-Muschallik, Beth Hibbard, Bruce Hamilton, Dave Taylor, John Bouman, Kathleen Sharkey, Kelly Nagy, Margaret Cross, Margaret Figliola, Rose Linton, Sophie Sporbeck

 

  1. CALL TO ORDER:   6:34 PM

 

  1. GUEST SPEAKERS: Bahar Karimi, Administrator and Cathy Luke, Director of Nursing

 

Bahar shared the results of the 2020 Resident Experience Survey.  149 surveys were completed.  Overall the results were much improved from 2019.  Survey results will be shared with everyone.

 

Cathy shared her vast experience in nursing and administration.  She stressed the importance of being vaccinated against COVID 19 and advised 75% of the staff have been vaccinated.  The goal is for 100% to be vaccinated in the future.

  1. CHAIR’S REMARKS:

5.1   Easter Basket Fundraiser:  2 large baskets and 1 small basket are available to be won.  The baskets include wine, wine glasses, crackers, cheese, chocolate, chips, wafers and a variety of other treats.  Tickets prices are 1 ticket for $2.00 or 3 tickets for $5.00.  Draw date is March 31, 2021 at 3:00 pm outside the front doors of Idlewyld Manor.  Every Family Council member was challenged to sell $50.00 worth of tickets.  All funds raised will be donated to the Garden Fund.

5.2   The Communication Pathway previously shared by Bahar will have staff names added for further clarification.

5.3   Rapid testing for COVID has started.  All staff and Caregivers are required to be tested at Idlewyld Manor prior to their visit/shift on an every other day rotation.

5.4   More activities are being planned for Residents and all Smart TVs have been installed and are being enjoyed by all.

5.5    The Prevail information session was to be recorded but has now been re-scheduled.

 

  1. Ongoing Business

 

     6.1   Employee Recognition:  Mary and Nan will present a brief report on cost, availability of all staff names and suggested wording at the next meeting.  A vote will be taken and a decision reached.

6.2 The Garden Committee (Ann, Margaret and Dave) will meet with Bahar to discuss plans for this summer’s garden including the planting of in memoriam trees.  Fundraising is under way and a report of dollars raised will be available at the next meeting.

 

  1. NEW BUSINESS:

 

7.1   Wi-Fi is now available at Idlewyld Manor.  The password is Guest2021.

 

  1. REPORTS: Treasurer’s Report:  As reported by Mary

$165.45 cash and $760.15 in the bank; Total $925.60

 

8.2 Ann Bennett attended the Region 4 meeting held recently via Zoom.  There was much discussion around Bill 13, Time to Care Act.  Full details can be found at Bill 13, Time to Care Act (Long-Term Care Homes Amendment, Minimum Standard of Daily Care), 2020 – Legislative Assembly of Ontario (ola.org)
